Sunny Birdie was a breeder release puppy poodle/catahoula mix. She arrived to our home with a slew of behavioral issues and borderline semi feral. We had a very VERY rough transition of her into our home, she attacked our dogs and we had to crate and rotate while we worked on her issues. With time we were able to have her out and about with all of our dogs and she developed a love of toys and was quite the goofy girl where she felt comfortable and with people she felt comfortable around. We went through so many adoption applications, most decided not to even meet her after learning she wouldn’t be an “easy” dog. We finally found her people in Illinois. Her adopters are snow birds so they spend winters in Florida. Birdie is doing great in Florida and she LOVES the beach and the water ❤️ Even our difficult fosters can have very happy endings. Isn’t she adorable 😍
Another love story❣️. Opal now known as Mia is loving her new home and they are loving her. Love the success stories. Thank you Selby family for letting her be a part of your life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
'Our family had just lost one of our pups at the age of 14. He was a big part of our family and slept with my son every night. So as you can imagine our family was grieving the loss of our beloved Chopper. I had joined the 4 the love of K9’s rescue page and group because we were considering becoming a foster. That’s when I saw one of the fosters post about Remington (aka Sabrina). She was an adorable black puppy with a big head and a sweet little face.
I contacted the foster to see if we could meet her. We weren’t really looking to adopt, but something in her photo just grabbed my heart. The foster was very responsive and set up a meet and greet that same day. My husband, my 5 year old son, and I went to the foster’s home to meet her and to see the puppy. When we got to the house we were greeted by several of the foster’s resident pups and her other fosters. We got to hold Remington, take her outside, and she even showed us her newly learned skill of jumping off the couch! We were able to spend quite a bit of time with her, and we knew we wanted to adopt her. After completing the application we were able to pick her up the next day. She was already potty trained because her foster mom had worked with her before we had adopted her. She fit perfectly into our family, with our 2 other resident dogs, and soon after our new foster dog. We were given all of her medical information and vet contact information so that we could have her spayed when she was old enough. She was current on her vaccinations for her age, and was spayed soon after we adopted her.
We love our now Big baby, Remi, as we call her. She is a feisty and playful girl who loves her K9 siblings. Our adoption experience was amazing and smooth. I would recommend that anyone looking to adopt work with 4 The Love of K9’s if they want a personalized and speedy adoption experience. ❤️❤️❤️'

'Our first adoption through this wonderful rescue was Freckles. Freckles is a senior dachshund that is so full of love, cuteness, and orneriness. Despite her being 11 years old and coming from a breeder she has such a big heart! We first came across her on Petfinder. Mind you my husband and I had no intentions of adopting another dog but something told us to go look at her. So off we went to the Tractor Supply in Nixa to see if she was there for that days adoption event and she was! She was nervous with all the commotion going on around her and just wanted to be held. When we held her for the first time she just melted into our arms. So low and behold we went home with sweet little girl! She immediately fit in like she had lived there her whole life. She loved our other 2 dogs we already had. One of her favorite things to do is go visit her Grammy (my mom). She’s also got an ornery side which includes her stealing tissue paper out of Christmas Gifts and chewing on your napkins if you leave them within reach! Everyone at the adoption and that works through the rescue has been extremely helpful and welcoming! They answered any and all questions that you have. Overall great experience! ‘
