In March 2023, Lulu and Bull arrived at '4 the Love of K9’s' as they were being surrendered to the rescue, marking another heartwarming chapter in animal shelter success stories. During this time, it was discovered that Lulu was pregnant. The bond between the two was remarkable, resembling that of a married couple. Lulu subsequently gave birth to two beautiful puppies, which she nurtured for eight weeks before they were ready to embark on their own journeys.
Fortunately, Lulu and Bull, now affectionately known as Boo Baby, struck gold when they were adopted together, showcasing the beauty of dog adoption. Their new family embraced them, recognizing their imperfections and choosing to take a chance on them. Each night, they are lovingly dressed in pajamas and tucked in, enjoying the comforts of their new home. They transitioned from the harsh January cold to the warmth of cozy, plush beds, now living a life of pampered luxury, a true testament to inspiring pet rescue stories.
Sunny Birdie was a breeder release puppy poodle/catahoula mix who faced challenges typical of many rescue dogs. She arrived at our home with a slew of behavioral issues and was borderline semi-feral. The transition was very, very rough; she even attacked our dogs, leading us to crate and rotate while addressing her issues. With time and patience, we were able to integrate her with our other dogs, and she developed a love for toys, showcasing her goofy personality with those she felt comfortable around. We went through numerous adoption applications, but many potential adopters chose not to meet her after learning she wouldn’t be an 'easy' dog. Eventually, we found her perfect match in Illinois. Her adopters, snowbirds who spend winters in Florida, have provided her with a loving home. Birdie is thriving in Florida and absolutely loves the beach and the water ❤️ This heartwarming animal shelter success story proves that even our most challenging fosters can find happy endings. Isn’t she adorable? 😍

Another heartwarming animal shelter success story! Opal, now known as Mia, is thriving in her new home, and her family is absolutely loving her. We cherish these dog adoption stories and are grateful to the Selby family for allowing her to be a part of their lives. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

'Our family had just lost one of our pups at the age of 14. He was a big part of our family and slept with my son every night. As you can imagine, our family was grieving the loss of our beloved Chopper. I had joined the 4 the love of K9’s rescue page and group because we were considering becoming a foster. That’s when I saw one of the fosters post about Remington (aka Sabrina). She was an adorable black puppy with a big head and a sweet little face. This is just one of the many heartwarming dog adoption stories that highlight the amazing work done by pet rescues.
I contacted the foster to see if we could meet her. We weren’t really looking to adopt, but something in her photo just grabbed my heart. The foster was very responsive and set up a meet and greet that same day. My husband, my 5-year-old son, and I went to the foster’s home to meet her and see the puppy. Upon arrival, we were greeted by several of the foster’s resident pups and her other fosters. We got to hold Remington, take her outside, and she even showed us her newly learned skill of jumping off the couch! We were able to spend quite a bit of time with her, and we knew we wanted to adopt her. After completing the application, we were able to pick her up the next day. She was already potty trained because her foster mom had worked with her before we adopted her. She fit perfectly into our family, with our 2 other resident dogs, and soon after, our new foster dog. We received all of her medical information and vet contact information so that we could have her spayed when she was old enough. She was current on her vaccinations for her age and was spayed soon after we adopted her.
We love our now big baby, Remi, as we call her. She is a feisty and playful girl who loves her K9 siblings. Our adoption experience was amazing and smooth, showcasing yet another animal shelter success. I would recommend that anyone looking to adopt work with 4 The Love of K9’s if they want a personalized and speedy adoption experience. ❤️❤️❤️'

'Our first dog adoption through this wonderful pet rescue was Freckles. Freckles is a senior dachshund who is brimming with love, cuteness, and a bit of orneriness. Even at 11 years old and coming from a breeder, she has such a big heart! We discovered her on Petfinder, and although my husband and I had no intentions of adopting another dog, something urged us to go see her. We headed to the Tractor Supply in Nixa for that day's adoption event, and to our delight, she was there! Freckles was a bit nervous amidst all the commotion and just wanted to be held. When we held her for the first time, she melted right into our arms. So, we ended up bringing this sweet little girl home! She immediately fit in as if she had lived there her whole life and adored our other two dogs. One of her favorite activities is visiting her Grammy (my mom). Freckles also has a mischievous side, often stealing tissue paper from Christmas gifts and chewing on napkins left within reach! Everyone involved in the animal shelter success, from the adoption to the rescue, has been incredibly helpful and welcoming, answering all our questions. Overall, it was a great experience!
